The 125-a is getting the valve lash and the timing checked today, I don't think either has changed, but you never know. No flying today as we're having a giant fly in at $75.00 a pop. It's quite literally world wide and booked up full. The tank pictured is a 16 oz. and will be the one flown.
16 oz Roto Flow is the tank of choice for the RH 80.

Whia does make some fine tools, but....
I have been using a very long screwdriver from ACE Hardware. Despite looking like it could be awkward, it is not. Keeps your hand well away from the prop. Only costs a few bucks.
I also add a little spigot to the throttle arm on standard and extended throttle shafts.
A cut-down, socket head servo screw fixed at the high speed needle.
Makes a tidy method to adjust needles behind the cowl.

Slick looking needle mods, Gary.
For cowled engines, where a hsn extension rod would normally be required, I slot the end of the hsn and attach heat shrink tubing to it to form a guide tube. The wider the cowl the longer I make the heat shrink tube. Works a treat. Haven't done anything for a lsn guide.

I had set the timing on the 125-a at 34 deg. btdc and it is still there, the valve lash did not change in the 50 minute run yesterday, today it will be with a 15 x 7 three blade.

Yeah. Far easier to carry it external and ascetics aren't huge for me.
50 cc equals about 30 cc in power with these radials give or take. A 30 cc single flies these great planes 1/5 scale Stearmans fine. The airframe is a great scale appearance with the Saito R5 and OS FR -300 radials.
I pick on these airframes for this 50 cc series of radials I fly daily.
The engines are each 6 lbs give or take. The planes auw without the motor is 12.5 pounds. Gotta be sweet on landing and beef up the fixed gear a bit. They need about 16 ounces in the back to balance.
Fly great and sound better...lol

The top screw driver is perfect for the LS screw, I took Gary's idea and tapped the HS screw for a 2-56 x 25 mm screw.

I have a lot of the Whia drivers, but that looooong ACE screwdriver has spoiled me. Come to appreciate keeping my hand well removed from the propeller!
Pretty good chance those Craftsman blades were made in the same place as the Whia
Iam happy to have all my 73 year old digits in place so I can use old screwdrivers

China, huh. I bought my Craftsman set in 1971, they are still good. I think they were made in the good old USA!

Huh?
China? Not likely
Got plenty, many brands going back over 60 years.
Not one made in China.
All the Whia branded I have seen were German,

I see now that "China" was never mentioned as a source, my bad.
In my work the heat numbers with all chemistry included came across my desk for snap-on, stanley, craftsman and others (1981-1991). We in-house destruct tested all. The testing for Snap-on was also not just for the heat lot, but, for each ingot. Snap-on demanded only electric furnace steel and all test samples per ingot sent with the coil: each end of a coil, tensile tested. cut, mounted, polished and etched looking for inclusions and spheroidized anneal no carb or de-carb and others). We bought a lot of high quality steel from various sources, then shipped to the manufacture after processing.
I'm sure that other suppliers were used by these manufactures with similar quality standards.
I have some Klein pliers from the 70's as well. Made here in Chicago some of the best tools ever.
Quality control for some is not just a slogan. I have many German and Japanese tools of excellent quality, but, someone always has to be the first to set the bar.

Apex® bits are by far my favored type screw driver.
But I buy only genuine Apex ® bits.
Yes, Klein was a well made tool.

there. My older Klein tools wore the made in the USA insignia. Still available at garage sales....
They still find uses around here for various modeling related chores.
They made a line of screw starters that often saved the day.
Copied often but seldom bettered

My Feedback: (1)
see what my wife got 9 days ago. a brand spanking new Knee Joint, today she feels hardly any pain at all. I was shocked to see how well she came through the operation. everyone asked her "are you sure you want to do this?" she came home the same day and went up 2 flights of stairs, 1 with 6 steps and the other had 7. I was so worried about her going threw it! but she's OK. the Therapist said he was impressed in how well she is doing.
O, in 4 weeks she will have the other knee replaced.
LOL I hope I don't get in trouble for posting this pic!!!
Jim
edit, I don't know why the pic is sO big, it's not that big on my computer. the pic is 2 days old.
yes, no stiches, you can see the tape that is holding the incision together. It's something new thy do we were told.

Geri did that the same day and is doing well also, well enough that they cut her home therapy down to one week. They kept her over night because they did it in the after noon.
